Credits
Credits are Boardgame Craft's in-app currency for AI features and the Marketplace. Everything else â making games, cards, and playing â is free.
The short version
You get 1,000 Credits free when you sign up. Credits are only spent when you use AI generation features or buy items on the Marketplace. Building and playing games costs nothing.

Selling your own items on the Marketplace earns you Credits â the full listed price goes to you.
Check your balance
- The credit badge in the top bar shows your current balance at all times.
- My Dashboard â Credits shows the full picture: your balance and your recent activity (sign-up bonus, AI usage, purchases, sales, refunds).
Running low?
- Top-up packs â the Credit Center in My Dashboard offers credit packages you can purchase when checkout is available.
- Free refill request â if your balance drops below 100 Credits, the Request credit increase button unlocks in the Credit Center. Send a request and an administrator will refill your Credits.
Credits never expire, so there's no rush to spend them. Use Fast Draft for playtest art and save High Detail for the cards you want to show off.
Invite friends, earn Credits
Every account has a personal invite link in My Dashboard â Credits. Share it with a friend:
- Your friend gets 300 bonus Credits when they sign up through your link (on top of the regular 1,000-Credit sign-up bonus).
- You get 500 Credits once they save their first table setup in the 3D simulator.
Rewards are granted for up to 10 invited friends per account. Invite links only apply within the first 7 days after your friend signs up, and a verified email is required.
