Frequently Asked Questions
- What is Boardgame Craft?
Boardgame Craft is a browser-based 3D simulator built for multiplayer board game playtesting. You can load cards, tiles, tokens, and other tabletop pieces into a shared play space, invite other people into the same room, and test how your game actually feels in motion. The deck editor, template editor, and export tools exist to support that core simulator workflow.
- What is the 3D board game simulator?
The 3D board game simulator is the core of Boardgame Craft. It gives you a tabletop-style space in the browser where players can move pieces, draw cards, inspect the board state, and test rules together in real time. It is designed for practical multiplayer playtesting, not just static previewing.
- Why does Boardgame Craft include a deck editor and template editor?
They help you prepare playtest-ready content for the simulator faster. Instead of manually rebuilding every card, you can define reusable layouts, connect data fields, and keep large sets of components organized before bringing them into a multiplayer test session.
- Does Boardgame Craft support TCG card text formatting?
Yes. The Template Editor includes TCG Text Formatting tools for inline token icons, along with template-level font, color, and size settings. That makes it easier to prepare readable prototype cards before testing them inside the simulator.
- Can I export boardgame cards as PDF?
Yes. You can export card sheets as print-ready PDFs when you need physical prototypes, team review copies, or offline testing. PDF export is a supporting workflow alongside the main browser-based simulator experience.
- Does Boardgame Craft support multiplayer?
Yes. Multiplayer playtesting is one of the main reasons Boardgame Craft exists. You can create a room, invite collaborators, and run shared test sessions in the same 3D simulator so feedback comes from actual play instead of isolated review.
- Can I use the provided images for published products?
We really respect the work of board game artists and designers, so when you are preparing something for an official product, we encourage using original artwork whenever possible. Some images included in Boardgame Craft are AI-generated to help speed up prototyping, and they are generally best suited for playtesting, early mockups, and internal prototype work. How broadly you choose to use AI-generated images is ultimately up to you, but if you are aiming for a published release or external distribution, we recommend making that choice carefully and thoughtfully.
- How does the credit system work?
New members start with 1,000 Credits. Credits are used when you run AI features such as 2D image generation and 3D model generation. If your remaining balance drops below 100 Credits, you can go to My Dashboard and submit a credit top-up request, and we will refill your Credits for free.
